Why the name Madame Pompadour?
Madame de Pompadour was the name by whichJeanne Antoinette Poisson, the Marquise of Pompadour was commonly known. She was born 29 December 1721 and was a member of the French court. She was the official chief mistress of Louis XV from 1745 to 1751, and remained influential as court favourite until her death.
Madame Pompadour was a major patron of architecture and decorative arts, especially porcelain which has been a key industry within the city of Limoges since 1765 when a deposit of kaolin was discovered.

Louis XIV
This large, light and airy room is our second largest guest bedroom and accommodates an impressive four poster king bed. The tartan accents bring an air of grandeur.

The seating area and accompanying bedroom furniture in complimentary colours of red, black and silver, has been chosen to provide ample storage for guests whilst maintaining an air of opulence.
The three windows give a view of the tennis court and the front of the chateau. The traditional ensuite bathroom contains a large walk in shower.
Why the name Louis XVI?
Louis XIV was born Louis Dieudonné on 5 September 1638 He was also known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (le Roi Soleil). He was the King of France from 14 May 1643 until his death in 1715. His reign of 72 years and 110 days is the longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country in European history.

MARIE ANTOINETTE
We have a delightful new room on the top floor of the chateau. Overlooking the lush gardens with dual aspect, this king room has a private ensuite and period furnishings to match the chateau decor.

An en-suite shower room completes this luxury period room. With windows to the side and back gardens, this light and airy 2nd floor room is decorated in pink and a beautiful muted green. Think fairy princess in the castle in this dreamy room!
Why the name Marie Antoinette?
Graceful and misunderstood, Marie Antoinette was a young queen who brought charm and style to the French court. Remembered for her elegance and spirit, she remains a symbol of beauty, resilience, and timeless allure.

Empress Josephine
This very relaxing and light double bedroom has a subtle peacock theme. With rich blues to compliment the feature wall in this opulent room.
If you require a TWIN room, book Empress Josephine and request TWIN in the booking process. We will swap you into the special twin room we have available (2nd floor).

Why the name Empress Josephine?
Empress Joséphine Bonaparte was born Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie on 23 June 1763. She was the Empress consort of the French as the first wife of Emperor Napoleon I. She is widely known as Joséphine de Beauharnais, as she was called after her divorce from Napoleon.

Napoleon
This large king room has been tastefully refurbished with a feature wall in the imperial colours of gold and black. The dual aspect windows offer views over the rolling countryside.
If you require a family room, please book the Napoleon Suite, and we can make up an adjoining salon with children’s beds. See notes below.

Napoleon’s traditional seating, soft furnishings and lighting complete the rich decor of a room fit for an emperor.
It has an accompanying ensuite shower room, with a large fully tiled shower and traditional washstand.
Napoleon has an adjoining salon, which can be turned into a family suite – for 40€ per child (up to 2 children, please add into notes of booking and pay at chateau) – please note that the chateau is not equipped for small children.
Why the name Napoleon?
Napoleon Bonaparte was born 15 August 1769. He was a French statesman and military leader who led many successful campaigns during the French Revolution and the French Revolutionary Wars, and was Emperor of the French . Napoleon is regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history, and his wars and campaigns are studied at military schools worldwide. His political and cultural legacy has made him one of the most celebrated and controversial leaders in human history.

Eugène
Eugène is bright and airy double room with in-room ensuite. A traditional wooden bed is accented in gorgeous opulent blue silk and furnishings; alongside a grand feature fireplace.

Eugène has beautiful views of the mature trees near the chateau, with dual aspect windows for lots of natural light.
Traditional furnishings complete the room, and the attention to detail is second to none.
Why the name Eugène?
Eugène was Napoleon’s step son. Eugène de Beauharnais (1781–1824) was the son of Rose, Vicomtesse de Beauharnais (Josephine) from her first marriage to Alexandre, Vicomte de Beauharnais (he was executed during the Reign of Terror). Eugène became the stepson of Napoleon, ably commanding the Army of Italy.
